New Name for Oakura Kayakers

Published August 21, 2013

The Oakura club has had a name change and is now known as the Taranaki Kayak Fishing Club.

The change is a good one as our members are from all parts of the Naki .

We of course still hold surfcasting events, and the new name is also less of a mouthful.

The venue for the kayak classic is still Butlers Reef.

Club fees are due now if you are keen to join.  Check out our website taranakikayakfishingclub.co.nz.

The fishing since my last report has been all barracudas, and sharks with just the occasional snapper and gurnard. Kevin Pilcher landed a good catch with a 9kg snapper. We have been catching the odd snapper when we can get out on the water.

The Taranaki Kayak Fishing Clubs next club day is Fathers day 1st September.

It is a $6 day with all entries using a rod and reel costing a maximum of $6 [available at Warehouse].

Start time is 8am at the port.
